Our school was built early in the 20th Century to provide a school for the local community. It continues to serve this purpose, but we now welcome many families from a much wider area, including Lewes, which is just a few minutes drive away.
Our pupils are aged 4 years to 11 years and are taught in 4 classes by highly qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic staff. We have a wonderful outdoor environment complete with an extensive field, wildlife pond, story circle, willow shelters and ‘outside classroom’ all of which provide an invaluable extra resource to enrich the both the play and learning of our children.
Hamsey School is committed to providing a nurturing inclusive environment where we take time to develop close relationships with our families and, as a small school, all the staff know every child in the school really well. Our aim is that every child develops a love of learning through creative teaching and learning and can reach their potential, whatever that might be. We have consistently good academic results at the end of Key Stage 2 and are proud not only of the progress that all our children make, but also of the happy, confident, articulate children that leave us well-prepared for the next stage of their life.
Do come and visit us to see us at work and play.
